HRH The Duchess of Gloucester to be the next patron of St Alban’s Anglican Church in Copenhagen

St Alban’s Anglican Church in Copenhagen is honoured to welcome Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Gloucester as our new patron, succeeding The late Queen Elizabeth II, of blessed memory.

This patronage upholds a long tradition of British royal support for the Anglican community in Denmark. In 1863, Edward, Prince of Wales (later Edward VII), married Princess Alexandra of Denmark, and they became prominent advocates for the establishment of an Anglican church in Copenhagen.

Her Royal Highness’s patronage signifies the enduring bonds between the United Kingdom and Denmark, reflecting her deep connection to her country of birth and her commitment to the Church.

St Alban's Anglican Church continues to offer a place of prayer and fellowship for people of all nations living in or visiting Denmark. The Church of England and the Folkekirken (The Evangelical-Lutheran Church in Denmark) are in full communion and are committed to common life in mission and ministry.
