Choral Exam Success
Many congratulations to Isabelle Brander-Wang, one of our talented choir singers, for her success in passing the Silver Award exam from the Royal School of Church Music (RSCM).
Isabelle took the exam in church, over Zoom, in November last year, and we were overjoyed to receive the news that, not only did she pass, but she was "highly commended" - the highest grade available - with high praise indeed from the chief examiner. This is a wonderful testament to how much she has grown and developed as a singer over the past few years at St Alban's, and we are very lucky to have her singing with us in the choir.

The RSCM singing awards assess a singer's skills in various areas - from performing prepared pieces of church music (including hymns, anthems, and psalms), to tests of singing music at sight, exercises in pitching and aural perception, as well as questions about specific elements of church practice, liturgy, music theory, and choir membership in general. There are three levels - Bronze, Silver, and Gold - and they form a key part of supporting the development and education of singers within a choir.
By passing the exam, Isabelle is now entitled to wear a silver RSCM medal whenever she sings at St Alban's. We hope that she will be the first of many!
